Internet Usage Policy 

Internet Committee

All the rates are per minute basis.

A. For Academic Users (Teachers):

In a month:

• First 60 hours free.
• Next 10 hours  @ 0.10Tk/minute (Off-peak) and @ 0.20Tk/minute (Peak).
• Next 15 hours  @ 0.10Tk/minute (Off-peak) and @ 0.30Tk/minute (Peak).
• Next 15 hours  @ 0.10Tk/minute (Off-peak) and @ 0.40Tk/minute (Peak).
• After 100 hours of use in a month the user will not be able to use BUET VSAT any more for that month.

[Off-peak hours: 11:00 PM to 07:00 AM, Peak hours: 07:00 AM to 11:00 PM]

B. For Non-academic users:

In a month:

• First 30 hours free.
• Next 5 hours  @ 0.10Tk/minute (Off-peak) and @ 0.20Tk/minute (Peak).
• Next 5 hours  @ 0.10Tk/minute (Off-peak) and @ 0.30Tk/minute (Peak).
• Next 10 hours  @ 0.10Tk/minute (Off-peak) and @ 0.40Tk/minute (Peak).
• After 50 hours of use in a month the user will not be able to use BUET VSAT any more for that month.

C. If a user does not use his/her quota for a month he/she will not be able use it in the next month.

D. Internet use from a particular telephone number (8:00 AM to 6:00 AM week days only) from each department/office will remain out of the regulation described in clause  A and B.

E. An email - only account will be provided for each head of department/office.

F. There would be at least two BTTB telephone lines for  Internet Connection via which emails can be checked.

G. In cases of emergency when a user is finished up with his/her maximum  limit before ending of the month, special arrangements can be accomplished in IICT for  his/her Internet use.

H. From 1st June, 2006 above mentioned policies are being implemented.

I. After six months of implementation of above regulations it will be reviewed.
