Short Course on Petroleum Reserve Estimation, Production and Production Sharing Contract (PSC):

Directorate of Continuing Education (DCE) arranged a 2 day short course on Petroleum Reserve Estimation, Production and Production Sharing Contract (PSC) in association with the Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineering (PMRE), BUET during 29-30 April 2008. The short course was held at the Council Building, BUET. The program was presided over by Dr. M.A. Rashid Sarkar, Director, DCE. Dr. Mahbubur Rahman, Head, PMRE department was the coordinator of the program. The aim of the short course was to develop an understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of reserve estimation methods, production and development issues, methods of production optimization and forecasting and Production Sharing Contract (PSC). A total 61 participants from different organizations attended the program. The resource persons were Mr. Mir Moinul Huq, Petroleum Geologist, Dr. Mahbubur Rahman, PMRE, BUET, Ms. Hosne Ara Banu, Deputy Manager-Petroleum, Niko BD, Mr. Dale Brown, Reservoir Engineer, Chevron BD, Mr. Zaved Choudhury, Manager, Reservoir Engineering, Petrobangla, Mr. Mohammad Imaduddin Managing Director, BAPEX, Mr. Sohrab Hossain, Asst Prof, PMRE, BUET and Major (Retd.) Md. Muqtadir Ali Director (PSC), Petrobangla. Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Sarwar Jahan, Dean, Faculty of Architecture and Planning was present as the chief guest and Dr. M Tamim, Special Assistant to Chief Advisor, Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources, Government of Bangladesh was present as special guest. Certificates were awarded to the participants by Dr Sarwar Jahan and Dr. Tamim during the last session of the program on 30 th April
