The Department of CSE organized a teachers' training workshop for its new faculty member who recently joined the Department as lecturers. The major objectives of the the workshop were as follows: provide useful guideline regarding teaching, acquaint the new faculty members of their other roles and responsibilities beyond teaching, introduce them to the departmental and University's facilities and services, educate them about the official procedures of the University etc.
The workshop was conducted in two sessions. The first session was held on May 26, 2012 at 11:30 am in the IAC Seminar room. At the very beginning, Prof. Dr. A.S.M Latiful Hoque greeted the new lecturers and welcome them to the Department. Then Prof. Dr. M Kaykobad, Prof. Dr. Abul Kashem Mia, Prof. Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir and Prof. Dr. Masud Hasan addressed the new faculty members and provided them with valuable tips and advices from their vast teaching experiences. Then a presentation was made that acquainted the new lecturers about their roles and responsibilities in the department and informed them about the available departmental facilities and services for teachers. The session ended with expression of thanks for Head of the Department to the participants.
The second session of the workshop was held on June 17, 2012 in IAC seminar room. Prof. Dr. M Kaykobad, Prof. Dr. M. Saidur Rahaman and other senior faculty members of the Department graced to session to share their experience with the new teachers. The session started with a presentation that addressed various teaching related issues such as Grading Policy, class test conduction, question printing, issues related to term final exam, etc. It was followed by a very beautiful as well as useful lecture on general 'Teaching Methodology' by Prof. Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir. Then an open discussion took place among the participants both senior faculty members and the new teachers that resulted in some useful recommendation to strengthen departmental activities. Finally Prof. Dr. A.S.M Latiful Hoque, Head, Dept. of CSE thanked everyone for their active participation to end the session and the workshop.
