| Introduction |
For Admission to the course leading to the award of M.Phil. in Chemistry a candidate must have obtained a four years B.A/B.Sc. degree or M.Sc. degree with honours in Chemistry (Organic,Physical and Inorganic) or Applied Chemistry or B.Sc. Engineering degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical and Electronic/Materials and Metallurgical Engineering. A candidate with M.Sc.degree but not having an hours degree in chemistry or applied Chemistry should have a first class in the M.Sc. degree. A candidate must not have a third division/class but he /she must have at least one first class/ first division in any public examination and should have at least 50% marks or GPA of a minimum of 2.50 out of 4.0 or its equivalent in B.A / B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree . For the degree of M.Phil in chemistry a student must earn a minimum of 48 credit hours including thesis for which 30 credit hours shall be assigned. For admission to the course leading to a Ph. D. degree a candidate must have an M.Phil. degree with a minimum GPA of 2.75 out of 4.0 in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry or its equivalent from any recognized institution provided they must have two first division/class and no third division in any public examination. The minimum duration of the Ph. D. course shall be four semesters from the date of provisional admission . A student must complete all requirements for the Ph. D. degree within six academic years (session) from the date of his provisional admission. A Ph. D. student must complete a minimum of 54 credit hours of which a maximum of 45 credit hours shall be assigned for his thesis. |
