MoU Signing Between CSE, BUET and Samsung Bangladesh Research and Development Centre

The signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), BUET and Samsung Bangladesh Research and Development Centre (SBRC) held on Tuesday (15 May, 2012) at the office of the Vice-Chancellor, BUET. Dr. N.K Lee, Managing Director, SBRC and Prof. Dr. A S M Latiful Hoque, Head, Dept. of CSE, BUET signed the MoU on behalf of SBRC and CSE, BUET, respectively in presence of Prof. Dr. S. M. Nazrul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, BUET.

Samsung Bangladesh Research and Development Centre (SBRC) is a direct subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, a concern of Samsung Group which is one of the largest corporations in the world. SBRC is the first software based research and Development Center in Bangladesh as well. From its corporate social responsibility, SBRC proposes to establish the Samsung Innovation Lab at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology for the betterment of society and the nation. This lab will introduce new innovative technologies in the university and will act as a primary nucleus for a sophisticated center of excellence in mobile computing research. Initially, SBRC will provide 30 laptops, 15 Galaxy Tabs, 15 Galaxy Phones, 1 Projector, 1 Printer and other logistics in the Lab.
